I reached out to their office for help with my kitchen cabinet, which was nearly falling and had caused a big crack in the drywall. From the start, I was greeted warmly and asked all the right questions. Stephen followed up after reviewing the pictures I sent and provided excellent advice. FAQs About Working with Bass Home Remodeling & Repair

Do you take on smaller home improvement projects such as partial kitchen renovations or “punch list” type projects that need a licensed general contractor?

Absolutely! Many of our clients work with us on the smaller jobs other contractors drive right by. We enjoy working with homeowners on developing a project plan that fits your budget and vision. In particular, we often have clients work with us on a series of smaller projects that need a licensed contractor’s skill. Learn more about our approach to home repair here!

How long does an initial consultation take? What kind of information do you need from me before the consultation?

On average, most of our consultations are 20-30 minutes, but we also may need to spend more time discussing your vision and home, so if schedules allow, we can always extend the consultation. For larger projects, including full house remodels, homes with extensive damage, or discussions that involves material selections, floor plan changes, and a long list of laundry list items that needs to be reviewed, Stephen will typically take an hour or more. We may also ask you to submit some photos in advance so we can effectively prepare for your consultation. However, much of the time we don’t need anything before the consultation—we simply ask that the homeowner or decision-maker is present.

Who will be providing the consultation and estimate for my project?

All of our initial quotes are developed by our licensed contractor and owner, Stephen Bass. We find that having an expert involved in your project from the very beginning helps us ensure our reputation for on-time and on-budget projects.

How long do I have to wait to start a small home improvement or repair project?

At least 3 business days. California State Licensing Board requires us to give all customers a 3 day cooling off period before work can begin. Individuals 65 years or older are given a 5 day cooling off period.

How far from San Jose are you able to travel for a consultation on my restoration, repair, or siding project?

Our service region is roughly a 25 mile radius from San Jose. The furthest north we go is San Bruno, furthest south we are able to travel is South San Jose. To the west, our general cut off is Los Altos and to the east are Alum Rock and Union City. If you aren’t sure, simply ask!

Do you guarantee your work?

We absolutely guarantee our work! Our work comes with a 5 year warranty. Additionally, the manufacturers we work with also have warrantees for their products, helping your peace of mind.

After the initial consultation, how long do I have to decide whether to move forward with my project?

Our estimate is only good for 30 days. After that time period, we may require a follow up consultation to assess the validity of the original estimate. However, it is unusual that prices fluctuate wildly in a short timeframe, so please don’t feel pressured.

Am I going to talk to a bot, or will a real person answer the phone when I call?

Starting from the very first call, a real human will answer your questions, address your concerns, and make sure you feel good about your project direction. No annoying bots or high pressure from us!
